Gratitude Gathering Celebrates Donors, Volunteers and Community Partners

Feb 7, 2023 | by Maureen "Mo" Hill

The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester (RAS) hosted its first, annual Gratitude Gathering on January 26th. The event recognized donors, volunteers and community partners who made significant contributions of time, talent, or treasure in 2022. It was held in the grand ballroom of the Hyatt Regency downtown location. Approximately 80 invitees attended the breakfast, which featured remarks from Rochester Police Chief David M. Smith. Majors Debbie and Doug Burr, Advisory Board Chairperson Chuck Armbruster, and Public Relations Chairperson Daisy Rivera Algarin were also on-stage speakers. A cumulative slideshow of photos looped on a main screen, showcasing many volunteers and activities from 2022.

Nine local businesses sponsored the event at $1000, $500 and $250 values. Sponsorship titles included main event, event, program, awards/stage and centerpiece. In total, $5500 was added to $2000 recognition-budgeted funds. These donations offset the $4,000 cost of the event, which included catered breakfast, AV, photography, and other celebration expenses. Although the gathering wasn’t posed as a fundraiser, the event raised $1,500 above expenses.
