Too many people feel the pain of hunger

Every day The Salvation Army helps alleviate hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

The Salvation Army’s approach to feeding the hungry is formed based on the local needs of each community we serve.

  • Those in need across Greater Cleveland and East Cleveland can get nutritious, hot meals and groceries from their nearest Salvation Army Corps Community Center.
  •  We feed thousands daily, including the most vulnerable in our communities — underserved children in our curriculum based learning programs, programs, forgotten friends at our homeless shelters, people looking to better their lives at our addiction recovery facilities, and older adults in our senior programs.
  • The Salvation Army food pantries provide groceries for families and individuals in need. Food is free, and we never turn anyone away. Call your local Salvation Army Corps Community Center for more information on hours and services.

The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland serves approximately $1 million worth of meals every year

Anyone in need of a nutritious meal can find one at The Salvation Army. Our holistic approach to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each person helps move many from crisis to empowerment.

Those in need receive more than 56 million meals each year through:

Hot Meal Programs and Food Pantries

No one should ever go a day without a meal or feel ashamed about asking for help. That’s why many of our locations provide hot meals and free groceries year-round to anyone who needs them. For home-bound seniors, some areas even offer grocery delivery services. Contact the location near you to learn when meals are offered or which food shelf serves your area. You may need an appointment for groceries, depending on the location.

Produce Giveaways

For six months of the year, we partner with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to provide a variety of fresh produce to our neighbors in need at two of our Corps Community Centers at no-cost. A photo ID and proof of residency, such as an electric or other utility bill is all that is required for participation in the giveaway.
