The Salvation Army launches partnership with Exclusive Jordan Smith Concert

Aug 14, 2023

Cleveland, OH (August 14th, 2023) — The Season 9 winner of The Voice, Jordan Smith, performed an exclusive concert at The Salvation Army in Northeast Ohio Divisional Headquarters, located at 2507 E. 22nd St., this afternoon. His concert kicks off a new partnership between The Salvation Army in Northeast Ohio and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This partnership is to help aid in the fight against food insecurity throughout Northeast and Northwest Ohio.

“Hunger is an ongoing epidemic in our country. According to Feeding America, 18.4% of residents are food insecure in Cuyahoga County. We continue to see the lines grow outside our food pantries as inflation rises and the cost of essential goods increases,” stated Captain Joel Ashcraft, Divisional Secretary of The Salvation Army in Greater Cleveland.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has coordinated with Refuge Media Group to set up two concerts in Cleveland, OH. These events serve as a backdrop to help launch hunger relief efforts throughout Northeast Ohio. The Jordan Smith concert on August 14th served as a pre-promotion for the Michael W. Smith concert on September 16th at Playhouse Square. In total, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will donate 100 tons of food by the end of 2023 that The Salvation Army, and others, will use address food insecurity in the area.

“The Salvation Army is an organization that has a true heart for their local communities. We knew that God would direct us to the right partner organizations to help us give the most direct impact quickly, and he led us straight to The Salvation Army. We are excited to see how our organizations will be able to collaborate to fight against food insecurity in Northeast Ohio,” said Michael Snyder, President of the Cleveland Ohio Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

“The donation of food has taken my breath away. The sheer generosity and care of one organization to do the work of Jesus Christ is astounding. This food will help feed an empty stomach, hungry souls and bring hope to many in our Greater Cleveland community,” stated Ashcraft.
