The Salvation Army's Pathway of Hope is a nationwide initiative providing enhanced services to families with at least one child under the age of 18, in poverty, who design a plan around their individual goal. Pathway of Hope enables families to work towards breaking the cycle of crisis and intergenerational poverty. Pathway of Hope is a collaborative approach utilizing existing Salvation Army and community resources to provide strengths-based case management services over a 6 to 18-month period.
Pathway of Hope (POH) uses an intensive, client‐centered case management approach to empower families and address root causes preventing them from becoming more self‐sufficient. By breaking the cycle of crisis in conjunction with our extensive community partners, it offers a hand up as opposed to a handout and enables a path out of poverty.
Studies show that children who grow up in poverty are 32 times more likely to remain in poverty as adults. POH’s goal is to break this cycle, impacting multiple generations as we work long‐term alongside families with children, empowering them to move beyond crisis to a state of increased stability. Enrolled families and their respective case managers will take advantage of The Salvation Army’s extensive resources and community connections, developing personalized action plans oriented through a strengths‐based lens to overcome barriers.
