To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name
without discrimination.
The Salvation Army has been serving Orrville and the surrounding community for over 70 years. Bob "Punch" Maiwurm, a local clothing store owner, had a vision back then to help those who were less fortunate. He kept food and medicine in the basement of his store to assist those in the community with dire needs. Due to his compassion and hard work, The Orrville Salvation Army honors his memory by continuing to assist with food and financial needs in our local community. In the 1990's, the Salvation Army opened a location on Market Street. In 2012, after a successful capital campaign, we moved into our current space at 401 West High Street. With that move, we were able to honor “Punch” and the Maiwurm family and are now named, The Orrville Salvation Army - Maiwurm Service Center. We are blessed to be a part of a community that gives back in so many ways and are overwhelmed by the continued support of this community!
At its heart, The Salvation Army is a church. This foundation is what motivates us to do the work that we do. We love God and serve others because of His love for all. That’s where our mission comes from – to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet needs in His name without discrimination. Because, we want others to come to know God’s love too. These are our marching orders.
