How We Help

The Salvation Army provides a variety of programming throughout the year to people in need. Assistance can vary from a food bag, to help with utility disconnection, or even clothing and furniture. We may help a young child struggling with school, a person trying to overcome challenges associated with homelessness, or a senior unable to get out of their home. Whatever crisis the family is experiencing, The Salvation Army is there to listen and provide comfort and support.

The Salvation Army of Painesville is dedicated to caring for the poor, restoring broken families, feeding the hungry and educating our youth. We respond to emergencies and continue to support individuals in overcoming barriers and achieving their goals. Holistic service is the aim - to meet the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of families and individuals. We provide innovative, affirmed and successful programs and services to bring hope, strength and success to people throughout Northwest Ohio.

Our programs exist to serve others as commanded by the Word of God. We work to address the whole person (body, mind and soul) and we believe in the transformation of lives.

Christmas Assistance

The Salvation Army recognizes that holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress for families in need. We offer a variety of services to help families and individuals make it through more difficult holiday seasons.

Missing Persons Services

Helping the Homeless

At The Salvation Army, we have an open door policy when it comes to those needing help with housing - whether they need a place to rest their head inside our doors or need help finding a way to stay in their own home. All are welcome, and every night, we help thousands of men, women, youth and children sleep safely and dream of a better tomorrow.

Food Assistance

We never want you to go a day without a meal. We provide lunch meals year-round to anyone who needs them, no questions asked. We operate a food pantry offering free groceries to individuals and families in need. Contact us to learn when meals are provided each week or to set up a food pantry appointment.

Utility Assistance

Pathway of Hope

The Pathway of Hope program exists to provide services to families wanting to break the generational cycle of poverty and enable a path out of constant crisis. It is driven by intensive case management and education. By positively changing the lives of parents, better living conditions result for children.

Community Programs

The Salvation Army has always done its best to meet the unique needs of the communities in which it serves. This is why in many cities and towns around Ohio we operate Youth Groups, providing enriching after-school programs. In other communities, we provide engaging seniors programming.
