Emergency Utility Assistance

Utility and rent assistance is available seasonally as funds are available to households who meet income guidelines as set out by the specific program providing the funding.  To find out if you are eligible for assistance, please consult the Caseworker Zip Code List here and call the caseworker for your area.

  • Neighbor to Neighbor: Assistance for AEP Ohio customers who are facing disconnect (or have had service terminated), who have paid at least $75 on their electric bill in the last 90 days, who have a minimum outstanding balance of at least $50 on their bill which is at least 30 days behind, and who meet income guidelines of 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.  You can fill out an online application here or an appointment is required with a Salvation Army caseworker to determine eligibility, review documentation, and complete application. 
  • Heat Share: Assistance grants from Columbia Gas which helps with up to $450 to prevent Columbia Gas shut-off or to reconnect service. Clients must meet income guidelines of 300% of federal poverty guidelines.  An appointment is required with a Salvation Army caseworker to determine eligibility, review documentation, and complete application.
