Emergency Utility Assistance

Utility and rent assistance is available seasonally as funds are available to households who meet income guidelines as set out by the specific program providing the funding.  To find out if you are eligible for assistance, please consult the Caseworker Zip Code List here and call the caseworker for your area.

  • Neighbor to Neighbor: Assistance for AEP customers who are facing disconnect, who have made a sincere effort to pay at least $75 on their electric bill in the last 90 days, who have a minimum balance of $50 on their bill, and who meet income guidelines of 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. 
  • Heat Share: Assistance from Columbia Gas which helps with up to $250 to prevent Columbia Gas shut-off or to reconnect service. Clients must meet income guidelines of 150% of federal poverty level.
