Giving Hope This Christmas
For thousands of families in Central Ohio, Christmas Cheer wasn’t just an event—it was hope wrapped in kindness. Thanks to The Salvation Army’s annual holiday distribution at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, over 4,600 families received gifts, meals, and a reason to celebrate.
Christmas should be a time of joy, but for many families, it can be a season of uncertainty. This year, thanks to the generosity of local donors and volunteers, parents had one less worry—knowing their children would have gifts under the tree and food on the table.
“It’s a blessing for me. This year’s been a struggle, so it really helps out,” shared one mother.
For many, Christmas Cheer is more than just a helping hand—it’s a reminder that they are not alone.
“I’m so happy they are helping us with our kids. It means we can focus on our bills without worrying about buying so many toys,” expressed a relieved grandmother.
Along with gifts, every family received a Red Box, packed with holiday essentials—breakfast, a Christmas dinner, and even a game to create cherished memories.
“It’s just one more thing I have for my child. Especially the food box,” said one parent. “I appreciate you, and you’re a blessing.”
This incredible event was made possible by the generosity of Central Ohio donors and the dedication of 1,500 volunteers over three days. Their compassion ensured that every family who walked through the doors left with not only food and gifts—but also hope and dignity.
“This is the best way to end the year,” shared Major Tricia Brennan. “We get to see so many families, and it truly makes a difference. Every donation, every volunteer, every act of kindness helps change lives.”
