Learning Centers - Fall 2020 Virtual Program Offered

The Salvation Army operates a Learning Center in the Hilltop and Linden communities, providing academic support, achievement test preparation, tutoring and mentoring to students from Columbus City Schools in grades 1-5.  There is both an after-school component and a summer day camp component.  Dinner is provided after-school and breakfast and lunch is provided during summer camp.  This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

To enroll your first through fifth-grade child in one of our Learning Center Programs, please contact our Learning Center Education Specialist, Jordan Yost at 614.437.2159.

Services are provided at no cost.

Volunteers Needed:

We need volunteers to tutor students in math and reading at the Learning Centers.  We ask volunteers to commit to coming for two hours at least once a week for a minimum of 10 weeks.  Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.  Due to working directly with minor children, a current Ohio BCI/FBI background check is required of all volunteers.  Please contact Lori Banfield at 614.437.2132 or by email at Lori.Banfield@use.salvationarmy.org.

Music & Arts

The Salvation Army offers various music & arts programs free of charge at each of our five Worship & Community Centers in Central Ohio.  Our music ministries can teach young people how to read music, sing, and play various instruments, while emphasizing the importance of God's love and learning.  Each location offers different programs at different dates and times.  Please contact the location closest to you to register your child:

Character Building Programs

The Salvation Army offers many different character building programs for children in kindergarten through high school. Please contact your local Salvation Army for details regarding their specific programs or to register.

Summer Day Camp
