Partners in Doing the Most Good

The Salvation Army has changed lives and given hope to countless people throughout the nation. But it never does it alone.

It’s people just like you who make our programs
possible by choosing to give your time.

One-time Opportunities

Our one-time opportunities are perfect for those who want a quick and easy way to make a difference. These include activities like serving a meal any day of the year or ringing a bell during the holidays.

Ongoing Opportunities

Ongoing opportunities are designed for those who want to get involved on a regular basis. We’ll know you by your first name, and you’ll get to know the people in our programs. These include activities like working with youth, using your professional skills or serving after a disaster strikes.

Group Opportunities

We can accommodate your group’s desire to do something good together – whether family, friends, co-workers, civic or church groups. Group volunteer activities are typically project-based or part of a larger event.

Volunteer Opportunities

Angel Tree Program

Each year, hundreds of children are provided with Christmas gifts through the Angel Tree program. Both individual and corporate sponsors are needed to purchase gifts that will be distributed within the Angel Tree program.  You will be provided "wish lists" of toys from the needy children, from there the gifts can be purchased and dropped off at the Clark County Fairgrounds Youth Building.

For more information contact Lisa Bishop at 937-322-3434 ext 301 or lisa.bishop@use.salvationarmy.org

Toy Shop

Each year, at Christmas, The Salvation Army in Springfield collects toys and distributes them to needy children.  Volunteers are needed to help prep and set up the distribution facility, usually opened 2 weeks before Christmas.  This is an enjoyable time to bless the children in our community through your time, to "shop" for them from the already donated toys for their wish list.

To volunteer for the Toy Shop contact Jamie Scanlon at 937-322-3434 ext 308 or jamie.scanlon@use.salvationarmy.org

Red Kettle Campaign

Each year, before Christmas, the familiar Salvation Army red kettles reappear at area retailers, such as Kroger and Wal-Mart, to address the important work of collecting funds that allows The Salvation Army to serve those in need within the community.

And each year, volunteers are needed to provide the face of The Salvation Army to the community, serving some period of hours at a Red Kettle.  The amount of time spent is at your discretion, depending upon your availability and willingness to help.

To volunteer at a Red Kettle, contact Major Deborah Stacy at 937-322-3434 or Deborah.Stacy@use.salvationarmy.org

Ring a Bell

The easiest way to help from early November through Christmas Eve is to ring a bell at one of our iconic red kettles. Volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises the funds that sustain the help we give all year long.

When you volunteer at the Kettle, in one hour you are feeding 13 people.
