Share the warmth and joy of the Christmas season! Join The Salvation Army to package or deliver 1,000 warm meals for seniors and unhoused families. The food will be catered, but volunteers are needed to package it into individual containers and will be assigned to one of the following tasks day of: putting food into containers, bagging up the containers, loading the bags into vehicles, or cleaning up. Drivers will then deliver meals to various facilities, having selected which areas around Pittsburgh they're willing to deliver to when they signed up.
Who: Volunteers age 10+ (children younger than 10 can also volunteer, but they will be tasked with making cards, not helping with the food.)
What: Packaging or delivering warm meals for seniors and unhoused families
When: Christmas Eve (Tuesday, December 24, 2024)

Volunteers are needed to distribute toys to the families signed up for The Salvation Army Angel Tree program.
Who: Volunteers age 14+
What: Locate bags of toys that have been put together for specific children and give them to the parents
When: December 18 and/or December 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch will be provided)

Every Tuesday, the Allegheny County Emergency Disaster Services team cooks food at its Green Tree location to be distributed at several camps on the Northside.
Who: Volunteers (age 10+)
What: Cook and load the food into a Salvation Army vehicle and clean up
When: Tuesdays (as signed up) - 9 a.m. to Noon
Where: The Salvation Army Warehouse - 820 Parish St., Pittsburgh, PA 15220
No clearances needed. Great for small groups or individuals. Can help once or sign up for multiple dates, according to your availability. Kids age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Caring Center
The Family Caring Center is located in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh and provides shelter, meals and supportive services to families experiencing homelessness.

Echelon is The Salvation Army’s young professionals group whose members have the opportunity to network and socialize with one another while they engage in fundraising and volunteer opportunities for The Salvation Army.

Greater Pittsburgh Women's Auxiliary
The purpose of the Women’s Auxiliary is to promote and support the work of The Salvation Army and to strengthen the hands of those who have dedicated their lives to its cause.
The group coordinates a Fabric Fair in the spring and fall of every year and provides grants to several Salvation Army programs. Members gather on Wednesdays in Greentree all year long for fellowship and to prepare for the fairs.
