More Than $200,000 Raised During WTAE-TV’S PROJECT BUNDLE-UP Telethon
Pittsburgh, PA. (December 9, 2019) – WTAE Channel 4 and the Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division have raised more than $200,000 via WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up Telethon which gives winter jackets, boots, hats and gloves to local children and senior citizens.
The virtual telethon, held throughout the day December 4th, produced a record year of giving for this 35-year tradition to community service. Viewers donated through a 1-800 phone bank, online and “text to give” options. Key Bank, Columbia Gas, 84 Lumber, Walmart, UPMC, Citizens Bank, People’s, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Keelen Brothers Tree Service gave generous corporate donations.
“To have a record fundraising year in 2020 proves the generosity of Pittsburghers,” said WTAE President & General Manager, Charles W. Wolfertz III. “The ten, twenty, dollar donations really add up. Project Bundle-Up is a Pittsburgh tradition and we, as local broadcasters, are proud of our service to the neighbors who need it most.”
“We want to thank every donor who generously supported WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up this year and found it in their hearts to help keep children and seniors warm this winter,” said Major Raphael Jackson, Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division. “In a year where the need is greater than ever, we are blessed by the giving spirit of so many in our community, as we have raised $200,000 and counting – a truly remarkable feat during unprecedented times. To our partners, especially WTAE Channel 4, and to all who have donated, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God bless you.”
