WTAE-TV's project Bundle-Up Raising Funds for Kids in Need at Pumpkin Drop Event
PITTSBURGH, Pa. (October 20, 2020) – The Salvation Army and WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up is gearing up for a Pumpkin Drop of epic proportions as part of the 3rd Annual Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival.
This year’s drive-by Monster Pumpkins PopUp, configured to ensure the safety of all attendees due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will feature the WTAE-TV project Bundle-Up Pumpkin Drop, sponsored by Citizen’s Bank, on Thursday, November 5. The time of the livestreamed event will be announced soon here.
While this year’s Monster Pumpkins PopUp takes place in Gold Lot 1 on West General Robinson Street, directly in front of Heinz Field, beginning from Oct. 30 through Nov. 5, the Pumpkin Drop event will be held at a remote location separate from the PopUp site. The Pumpkin Drop will strictly be livestreamed by WTAE on Facebook, with no in-person attendees due to the pandemic. All are encouraged to tune in from the comforts of their own homes!
A nearly one-ton pumpkin will be hoisted 100-feet high and dropped into a pool filled with ping-pong balls. You can purchase a ping-pong ball for $10 at the WTAE-TV project Bundle-Up website, with all proceeds supporting The Salvation Army program that provides new winter outerwear to children and seniors in need.
When the pumpkin drops into the pool, the ping-pong balls will scatter; the ball farthest from the pool after the drop is deemed the winner and the entry corresponding to the ball will win a prize package consisting of:
- TV projector with 100+ inch screen (Perfect for outdoor sports and movie screenings)
- Two tickets to a Pittsburgh Penguins game (Upon return of live games with fans at PPG Paints Arena)
- 1-year Disney+ Subscription (Perfect for all ages)
Entries for the Pumpkin Drop can be purchased ONLINE until Noon on November 4.
Information on the Pumpkin Drop times and where to view it online will be updated on the WTAE-TV project Bundle-Up website and on Facebook. Also, stay tuned to WTAE-TV Channel 4 for updates. The winner will be contacted within 24 hours after the drop and does not need to be watching at the drop time to win.
Proceeds raised from the purchase of these numbered ping-pong balls will support WTAE-TV project Bundle-Up, helping The Salvation Army to provide new winter outerwear for local children and seniors in need throughout Western Pennsylvania. This year, more than ever before, children and seniors in Western Pennsylvania need your help! The cold weather is right around the corner, and experts are predicting another record setting year for cold weather and snow. Help WTAE-TV project Bundle-Up provide the necessary outerwear for our friends and neighbors to brave another long winter.
