PITTSBURGH (November 27, 2023) – The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division and WTAE Channel 4 are proud to present the annual telethon benefiting WTAE’s project Bundle-Up. Watch live on WTAE Channel 4 beginning at 5 a.m. and concluding at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023. All proceeds from this telethon will directly support WTAE-TV's project Bundle-Up, a program that provides NEW winter outerwear to children up to age 18 and adults over the age of 62 in need across 28 counties in Western Pennsylvania.

“We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our viewers in making WTAE-TV's project Bundle-Up Telethon a resounding success year after year,” Charles W. Wolfertz III, President & General Manager of WTAE Channel 4 said. “Your generosity is a testament to the compassion and kindness that define our community. Your support is critical to ensuring this vital initiative can continue to provide warmth and comfort to those in need.”

During the 2022-23 winter season, WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up provided coats, boots, gloves and hats for nearly 5,000 children and seniors. As part of this program, children and senior citizens over the age of 62 from low-income households throughout Western Pennsylvania are paired up with volunteers to go shopping to pick out all NEW warm winter outerwear – including coats, hats, gloves and boots.

“While providing warmth is the primary goal, the impact of these trips extends far beyond NEW winter outerwear,” Major Gregory Hartshorn, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania, said. “We're incredibly grateful for our continued partnership with WTAE-TV. With the community's ongoing support, we can ensure no one goes cold next winter, and for many winters to come.

Viewers can donate by calling 855-660-ARMY or by texting “BUNDLEUP” to 31333. Donations can also be made on projectbundleup.org or wtae.com.

Since its inception in 1986, WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up has raised $17 million, providing more than 305,000 children and seniors with NEW winter outerwear across Western Pennsylvania.
