Back-to-school joy, thanks to you
The new school year is here. Students are excited for new classes, new teachers, and new friends. But for many families across Western Pennsylvania, the stress of not being able to afford the necessary school supplies is a burden that might hold their children back.
It's a good thing they can rely on you to help them fulfill their back-to-school needs.
At Pittsburgh Temple's annual back-to-school bash, hundreds of backpacks, gently used clothing, pairs of shoes, and other staple items were provided to local families. The event's sponsor, First National Bank, also provided students with haircuts, along with food, fun, and even a bounce house.
"A small thing like a haircut made everyone feel very special," volunteer Christine says.
For a family who first connected with The Salvation Army through Pittsburgh Temple's choice food pantry program, the haircuts were a highlight. Their 8-year-old daughter, who attended the back-to-school bash with her parents and two older brothers, was overjoyed at her new hairdo.
"The stylist did a beautiful cut, and the joy on the faces of the child and her mom were a delight to see," Christine says.
God bless you for your continued support. Because of you, children from families in need throughout Western Pennsylvania have the resources required for success in the classroom and beyond. Thank you!
