Bundle Them Up! WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up Telethon Returns In Person
PITTSBURGH (November 27, 2024) – The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division and WTAE Channel 4 are proud to present the annual telethon benefiting WTAE’s project Bundle-Up. This telethon will return to its original, in-person, live television format for the first time since 2019. Watch live on WTAE Channel 4 beginning at 5 a.m. and concluding at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024. All proceeds from this telethon will directly support WTAE-TV's project Bundle-Up, a program that provides NEW winter outerwear to children up to age 18 and adults over the age of 62 in need across 28 counties in Western Pennsylvania.
“We are excited to welcome back our dedicated partners and volunteers who will answer the phones live to make sure every donation is captured in real time,” Charles W. Wolfertz III, President & General Manager of WTAE Channel 4 said. “Thank you to our loyal viewers who make this telethon a success year after year. Together, we can make sure everyone has the cold weather gear they need to get through the winter in Western Pennsylvania.”
Viewers can donate by calling 412-243-6000 or by texting “BUNDLEUP” to 31333. Donations can also be made on projectbundleup.org or wtae.com. During the 2023-24 winter season, WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up provided coats, boots, gloves and hats for nearly 5,000 children and seniors. Since its inception in 1986, WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up has raised $17 million, providing more than 305,000 children and seniors with NEW winter outerwear across Western Pennsylvania.
For many participating children and seniors, the experience of WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up is the first opportunity they’ve ever had to shop for something brand NEW for themselves. Dedicated corporate and community volunteers ensure the experience is not just about receiving new items but also about creating meaningful, positive experiences that participants will remember for years to come.
“We are incredibly grateful for our continued partnership with WTAE and for the community's ongoing support” Major Gregory Hartshorn, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania, said. “It means so much more than a pair of gloves or boots or a new coat, hat and scarf. This program helps ensure everyone in our community, especially those who are most vulnerable, can feel comforted and cared for, even during the harshest winter weather.”
Celebrating over 150 years of global service as both a church and a social service organization, The Salvation Army began in London, England in 1865.
