Camp Allegheny Offers Job Opportunities for Young Adults Interested in Making a Difference

Mar 1, 2021 | by Stephanie Rex

Ellwood City, PA (March 1, 2021) – Danny Schlachter, a junior at Grove City College, was looking for a summer job where he could be a part of a strong, Christian community as well as being able to impact others through sharing his faith. During the summer of 2019, he connected with The Salvation Army’s Camp Allegheny, and now looks forward to coming back each year.

“Camp Allegheny, for me, was the best place for all of these things to happen,” Danny said. “Some of my favorite memories and experiences of working at Camp Allegheny come from talking to the campers and learning more about their experiences and stories and discovering how camp has had an impact on them.”

The Salvation Army Western PA Division is hiring Camp Allegheny staff for various positions located in Ellwood City for the summer 2021 season. Camp Allegheny offers low-cost, Christian-focused camping opportunities to children living in Western Pennsylvania.

“The main reasons why I want to continue working at Camp Allegheny are that I really believe in the goals we are trying to achieve, and those include creating a safe place for the campers to get away from life for a while, having fun, learning new things, and gaining new experiences in areas they wouldn’t usually get from anywhere else.” Danny said. “Most importantly, seeing the campers being able to learn about Jesus and how He can affect their lives in amazing ways is a strong reason for me returning to camp this summer. I am proud to be a part of what Camp Allegheny is all about.”

Camp Allegheny staff members exist to model Christ through servant-ministry, loving relationships and unforgettable experiences. As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, all CDC and American Camp Association safety guidelines will be strictly adhered to no matter the pandemic’s status this summer. The Salvation Army Western PA Division continues to monitor the public health crisis and will continue to make decisions that keep all employees and campers safe.
