The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division Holds Clothing Drive for Students
MT. LEBANON, Pa. (May 16, 2022) – The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center will be collecting items to help local students ahead of the new school year. This annual event, held in partnership with the Mt. Lebanon Police Association and Mt. Lebanon High School, will take place on Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items will be collected in the parking lot of Southminster Presbyterian Church, next to the Mt. Lebanon Library.
Volunteers will be on hand to receive donations of gently used children’s clothing and shoes for grades K-12. Items in demand include kid’s jeans, shorts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, sneakers, dress shoes and dress clothing in all sizes and genders.
“We are proud to announce the return of this annual clothing drive that has been a blessing to so many families throughout the years,” Captain Justin Caldwell, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center, said. “Your donations can help set students up for a successful school year.”
Each year, The Salvation Army assists local students in need from the South Hills area with clothes, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, and more, to make sure they return to the classroom safe and ready to learn. The donations will be sorted and distributed in August to those in need prior to the start of the new school year.
Celebrating over 150 years of global service as both a church and a social service organization, The Salvation Army began in London, England in 1865.
