Drive-In Theater Concerts to Provide Donations to The Salvation Army Western PA Division
PITTSBURGH, Pa. (September 3, 2020) – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts on our communities’ most vulnerable populations, Awakening Events has teamed up with The Salvation Army to support individuals and families in need. Contemporary Christian artists Zach Williams, Big Daddy Weave, and Casting Crowns will present checks to The Salvation Army onstage during three upcoming drive-in concerts in Carmichaels and Brookville.
Brought in part by Altrua HealthShare, Awakening Events’ donations will support The Salvation Army Western PA Division’s basic human needs programs to aid individuals and families facing impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, as there is no quarantine from hunger, no quarantine from a lost job, and no quarantine from poverty. Donations of $500 per performance will remain in the local communities.
The following drive-in concerts will benefit The Salvation Army Western PA Division’s Greene County Service Unit and Brookville Service Unit:
- Tuesday, September 15: Zach Williams and Big Daddy Weave at the Skyview Twin Drive-In, Carmichaels, PA
- Wednesday, October 21: Casting Crowns at the Moonlite Drive-In, Brookville, PA
- Thursday, October 22: Casting Crowns at the Skyview Twin Drive-In, Carmichaels, PA
Tickets are available at https://www.driveintheatertour.com/.
The Salvation Army’s programs serve vulnerable individuals and families and those affected by COVID-19 through shelter, drive-through grocery services, financial assistance and emotional and spiritual care.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, The Salvation Army Western PA Division has seen an increase in need as many families who have never reached out for help before now need assistance,” said Major Raphael Jackson, Divisional Commander, The Salvation Army Western PA Division. “The donations from Awakening Events, along with the public’s generosity, helps The Salvation Army provide hope to local individuals and families in need.”
The drive-in theater tour is designed to allow families and friends to safely enjoy live music again. Whether they’re in the back of a pickup truck or on a blanket on the ground, these concerts will offer fans a chance to have a great time all while observing social distancing guidelines.
“The Salvation Army is deeply committed to meeting human needs by providing hope to millions of Americans each year,” said Dan Fife, president and founder of Awakening Events. “We’re honored to support their efforts to provide food, shelter, counseling, financial assistance and spiritual support to individuals and families in need during these difficult times.”
