Families Forging a Brighter Future
Children raised in poverty are more likely to struggle financially as adults. The Salvation Army's Pathway of Hope program is changing that. Pathway of Hope aims to create a path out of poverty by breaking the cycle of crisis. The program uses an intensive, client-centered case management approach to empower families and address root causes preventing them from becoming more self-sufficient.
With the help and resources of The Salvation Army, a single mother in Allegheny County is working toward owning her own home and living her dream of opening a day care business. A veteran in Erie, who has faced an uphill battle with health issues, has now secured a job and for the first time he can start financially saving for his family’s future.
Families enrolled in Pathway of Hope and their respective case managers utilize The Salvation Army’s extensive resources and community connections, developing personalized action plans oriented through a strengths-based lens to overcome barriers and objectively track their progress over time.
Like the single mother in Venango County who, over the course of a year and a half, has doubled her income and obtained a position with full benefits, including an annual bonus. And the parents in Corry, Pennsylvania who learned to budget and have now gained childcare for their daughter.
Thanks to ongoing support from generous donors, families in Western Pennsylvania are taking steps toward a brighter future. These steps toward success are no easy feat. They are only possible with your unwavering support on this journey. Visit salvationarmywpa.org/POH to learn more about this initiative.
