Greater Pittsburgh Advisory Board Spotlight: Bill Shipley

Nov 23, 2021 | by Stephanie Rex

Bill Shipley passionately supports The Salvation Army because of its belief in Christ – through action.

“They go to the streets and needs of people in the name of Christ with no timidity,” Bill said.

A member of The Salvation Army Western PA Division’s Greater Pittsburgh Advisory Board, Bill is a retired partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. He served 30 years mostly in Pittsburgh, but also served in New York City, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Dayton, Ohio. Upon retirement, Bill served as Executive Director of the law firm of Thorp Reed & Armstrong, LLP for 6 years, and then as COO of McKinley Carter Wealth Services, Inc.

He initially learned about The Salvation Army through service as a Loaned Executive to the United Way of Southwestern PA in 1977.

“I have been most surprised by the extent of the summer camping program at Camp Allegheny and impressed by the great work of Corp officers in their local communities,” Bill said.

He continues to look forward to supporting The Salvation Army’s mission in “Doing The Most Good” for those most in need in our local communities.

Bill lives in Hampton Township with his wife of 45 years, Judith, and they have three adult children: Ian, Clare, and Rachel.
