Greater Pittsburgh Advisory Board Spotlight: Dennis Tyra
When Dennis Tyra’s parents began taking him to their local Salvation Army as a young boy, it was the beginning of a relationship with the organization that would help his family through tough times.
Today as an adult, Dennis gives back as a member of The Salvation Army Western PA Division’s Greater Pittsburgh Advisory Board. After a 46-year retail career, he retired from the Sam's Club division of the Wal-Mart corporation after 25 years. His last assignment was serving as the club manager at Sam's Club in North Fayette.
Dennis is inspired by The Salvation Army’s outpouring of support for those in need in the local community.
“Our youth summer camp gives kids a chance to grow and learn to make good decisions for their lives,” Dennis said. “We are here to help everyone, to support spirituality, and to support family needs.”
Dennis states that he is honored and proud to serve on the Greater Pittsburgh Advisory Board.
He lives in the McCandless area of Pittsburgh with his wife, Diane. He has a son, Brian, daughter Jennifer, a stepdaughter, Sarah, and 6 grandchildren.
