INDIANA, Pa. (November 12, 2020) – The Indiana Salvation Army is hosting a Virtual Red Kettle Kickoff Auction this year, giving bidders the chance to win several exciting items donated by local businesses while supporting families and neighbors in need.

The online auction will take place on Tuesday, November 17 at www.salvationarmywpa.org/Indiana between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., with all funds raised going towards The Indiana Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign – Rescue Christmas. Participants can now register for the auction. In order to view the auction items, you must register online first at www.salvationarmywpa.org/Indiana.

The Salvation Army’s Annual Red Kettle Campaign supports families and individuals in need in Indiana with:

  • Utility, Rental, and Food Assistance
  • Clothing and Other Basic Needs
  • Free Youth and Senior Programming

“Here in Indiana, The Salvation Army provided 18,694 groceries for people in need during the first four months of the pandemic,” said Lt. Candace Horsman, Commanding Officer for the Indiana Salvation Army. “We need your help as we know people are still struggling due to the many financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your kindness and your participation as a bidder and donor will Rescue Christmas for our Indiana neighbors in need.

Winners will be contacted after the online auction closes, and all prizes will have a designated pickup date and time after the online auction closes.

“With more people facing hardship this year, the need to serve those most vulnerable in Indiana is greater than ever,” said Molly Russell, Advisory Board Chair for The Indiana Salvation Army. “The online auction will only be available between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., so be ready to bid from the comfort of your own home all while doing the most good for our community!”

This year’s kickoff auction is being held online this year due to the many health concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic. Each year, The Salvation Army hosts a kickoff breakfast marking the beginning of the Red Kettle Campaign in Indiana. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, holding the breakfast this year was not possible.

“We hope to resume our annual Kettle Kickoff Breakfast and in-person auction in 2021, when it is safe for us to gather,” Lt. Horsman said. “Your support directly impacts neighbors in need.”
