The Salvation Army Western PA Division Rallies for Red Kettle Donations While Facing Fundraising Challenges

Dec 7, 2021 | by Stephanie Rex

PITTSBURGH, PA (December 7, 2021) – The Salvation Army Western PA Division is urging the community to donate to this year’s Red Kettle Campaign: Hope Marches On, as we continue to support families and individuals in need who are facing the many impacts of pandemic poverty.

So far, the division has raised $715,130 across 28 counties, about 30 percent of the total fundraising goal of $2.4 million.

The fundraising goal for Allegheny County is $569,000. So far, the county has raised $164,580, which is 29 percent of its total goal for Allegheny.

The following locations have raised less than 15% of their total goals and need the community’s increased support in funding critical, year-round services: Greenville, McKeesport, Washington, and Westside.

“If you are able to give, no matter the amount, your gift will make a difference for someone struggling.” said Major Gregory Hartshorn, Divisional Commander, The Salvation Army Western PA Division. “As we all continue to navigate the pandemic, we are making it easier than ever to give safely from the comfort of your own home by visiting our online kettle at www.salvationarmywpa.org/HopeMarchesOn. Every single donation is appreciated and helps us to do the most good in our region. Thanks to our generous sponsors, there are new opportunities of giving that can even double your impact this season.”
