The Salvation Army Western PA Division Makes Final Push to Reach Red Kettle Campaign Goal of $2.3 Million to #RescueChristmas

PITTSBURGH, PA (December 22, 2020) –The Salvation Army Western PA Division is urging people to give online this week to the Red Kettle Campaign: Rescue Christmas, making its final push to reach its goal of $2.3 million.

The Salvation Army Worship and Service Centers in Aliquippa and Altoona have raised less than 30 percent of their total fundraising goals and urgently need their local neighbors’ help.

Greensburg, Greenville, and Homewood have raised less than 40 percent of their total fundraising goals and need Red Kettle donations from their communities.

The Salvation Army Western PA Division has raised $1,641,340 across 28 counties, about 72 percent of the total fundraising goal of $2.3 million. In Allegheny County $353,140 has been raised, 68 percent of its total goal of $520,000.

One of the easiest ways to give during the pandemic is by visiting the division’s online Red Kettle at www.salvationarmywpa.org/RescueChristmas and making a donation of any amount. All donations remain in your local community.

"As we near the end of this year’s Red Kettle Campaign, I pray that those who are able will give what they can, as all of the money collected goes directly to serving our neighbors in need,” said Major Raphael Jackson, Divisional Commander, The Salvation Army Western PA Division. “We urge people to give online this week at www.salvationarmywpa.org/RescueChristmas, as any amount makes a difference for those struggling this year. Your support provides emergency feeding programs, utility assistance programs, and more. God bless you, thank you for your support, and Merry Christmas!”

Donations can also be made via Apple Pay or Google Pay at a physical red kettle, by texting “KETTLES” to 91999, with spare change and cash at a physical red kettle at your local retailer, or by shopping at Walmart and “rounding up” your purchase with a donation at a cash register or online.

Celebrating over 150 years of global service as both a church and a social service organization, The Salvation Army began in London, England in 1865. Today, it provides critical services in 127 countries worldwide. The 28-county Western Pennsylvania Division serves thousands of needy families through a wide variety of support services.
