Monessen Red Kettle Challenge 5K Fun Run to Support Local Individuals and Families in Need
MONESSEN, Pa. (September 8, 2020) -- The Monessen Salvation Army invites the community to support local families in need during a fun, safe, and socially-distanced Red Kettle Challenge 5K Fun Run on Saturday, October 10.
All funds raised will support The Salvation Army’s Annual Red Kettle Campaign, which helps to provide families and individuals in need all year long with services including emergency food, rental and utility support, and other basic needs. All funds remain in the local community.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for the whole community to come together and support our neighbors in need,” said Captain Susan Thwaite of The Monessen Salvation Army. “This gives families and friends a chance to get outside, get some exercise, and do the most good as we kick off our efforts to raise money for the annual Red Kettle Campaign.”
Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. Oct.10 and the race will begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost ranges from $15 - $35, and based on the level of support, participants are eligible to receive a medal, t-shirt, and swag bag. This year, your participation is needed more than ever as our communities continue to deal with the financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no quarantine from hunger, no quarantine from a lost job, and no quarantine from poverty.
Participation Options:
- Race in person with your pandemic pod! A staggered start will allow for safe social-distancing with your own personal pod. Bring cash, as there will be stops along the way that challenge you to give, or to complete added physical challenges!
- Race online! Make a donation online to lend your support to families and individuals in need. All donations remain in the local community.
