Jun 7, 2021 | by Stephanie Rex

(North Boroughs, PA) June 7, 2021 – The Salvation Army North Boroughs Worship and Service Center is launching a new summer feeding program today in conjunction with the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, providing healthy meals for youth in need.

The Summer Youth Café is a drive-through program where families can receive breakfast and lunch for the day! The program will run Monday through Thursday from June 7 through August 20 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Healthy and free meals will be provided each day. Meals can be picked up at The Salvation Army North Boroughs, located at 327 S. Home Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15202. (There will be no service on Monday, July 5.)

The Summer Youth Café is open to all youth ages 18 and under. There is no cost and no sign-up necessary to participate and the program is first come-first served.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank on this initiative, and we look forward to connecting with youth in the North Boroughs area,” said Lt. Kelly Melfi, Commanding Officer at The Salvation Army North Boroughs Worship and Service Center. “In addition to providing healthy and free meals, this is a great opportunity for us to build relationships with local families while letting them know more about other services we offer as they drive-through to pick up their meals.”

The Salvation Army North Boroughs Worship and Service Center opened its new facility at 327 S. Home Avenue in July 2020. Offering emergency food assistance, utility and rental assistance and more, the new location is creating services based on local need. For more information, visit www.salvationarmywpa.org
