The Salvation Army WPA Pushes for Red Kettle Donations During Last Week of Fundraising Before Christmas

Dec 16, 2021 | by Stephanie Rex

PITTSBURGH, PA (December 16, 2021) –The Salvation Army Western PA Division is just halfway to reaching its Red Kettle Campaign goals and pushing for increased donations as the last week of fundraising before Christmas begins.

So far, the division has raised $1.1 million across 28 counties, about 48 percent of the total fundraising goal of $2.4 million.

The fundraising goal for Allegheny County is $569,000. So far, the county has raised $280,529, which is 49 percent of its total goal for Allegheny.

The following locations have raised less than 40% of their total goals and need the community’s increased support in funding critical, year-round services: Allegheny Valley, Altoona, Greenville, Homewood, McKeesport, New Castle, New Kensington, Sharon, Warren, Washington, and Westside.

Donors in DuBois and South Hills Pittsburgh areas have the chance to double their donations this season as each community has a sponsored donor match initiative that runs through December 24.

“It’s hard to believe Christmas is almost here! As we approach our final week of fundraising, please remember to make your gift to The Salvation Army. Every gift matters, especially as we think of those continuing to struggle with the many impacts of the ongoing pandemic,” said Major Gregory Hartshorn, Commanding Officer, The Salvation Army WPA Division. “Our Red Kettle Campaign will help ensure a happy Christmas for many of our neighbors, but will also fund critical year-round services to children, families and the elderly in your local community! As we reflect on God’s greatest Gift to the whole world at Christmastime, may we give what we can today, following His example. Thank you and God bless you and yours.”
