The Salvation Army and Sheetz For The Kidz Work Together To Keep The Holidays Bright

Dec 23, 2023

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (December 23, 2023) — The Salvation Army and Sheetz For the Kidz™ partner together once again to celebrate the spirit of the giving for those in need this holiday season. The impact of inflation has caused a rise in rent and utilities forcing families to choose between paying the bills and purchasing gifts for their children. The partnership responded by providing $2.5 million in new toys, clothes, and other basic needs, easing the burden for parents and making the holiday season brighter for 11,356 kids.

“We’ve seen the number of people experiencing homelessness increase by 11 percent this year, creating tough choices for parents this season,” said Commissioner Kenneth Hodder, National Commander of The Salvation Army. “The Sheetz For the Kidz Holiday Program helps to alleviate the burden parents feel around the holidays and keep the joy alive for families facing hard times. We’re so grateful for Sheetz and their support in loving beyond this incredible need.”

In 2022, the partnership responded with more than $2.4 million in new toys, clothes, and other basic needs around the holidays for nearly 11,000 kids.

“The impact of this 30-year partnership with The Salvation Army goes far beyond the toys and clothing, as we know the relief this program provides to so many families every holiday season,” said Brittany Funcheon, Sheetz For the Kidz Executive Director. “The outpouring of support that we receive from our customers, employees and business partners allows us to continue to support even more kids in our neighborhoods.”

The Salvation Army provides holiday assistance to more than 2.2 million people with the generous help of partners like Sheetz For the Kidz, which includes help with gifts for nearly one million children in struggling families. It is only with the help of generous contributions during the holidays that The Salvation Army can meet the immediate and long-term needs of individuals and families. The Salvation Army is committed to providing service and love to those in need this Christmas and all year round.
