Jul 6, 2022 | by Nicole Harrell

RIDGWAY, Pa. (July 6, 2022)The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division is proud to announce Hope Weichman as the newly appointed Director of The Salvation Army’s Elk County Service Center. Weichman has more than 18 years of social services experience as Deputy Director/Events Coordinator for Life and Independence for Today (LIFT), a nonprofit that serves people with disabilities in Elk, Cameron, McKean, Potter, Clearfield and Jefferson Counties.

The Salvation Army will continue existing outreach programs to all vulnerable residents of Elk County such as comprehensive social services including: emergency food assistance, project Bundle-Up, back-to-school readiness, residential summer camp, Christmas assistance (including Angel Tree) and Emergency Disaster Services support.

“With her years of experience and dedication to the region, Hope will be able to help us continue to have a positive impact on the lives of those we serve,” Barbara Whitehouse, Advisory Board Chairperson for The Salvation Army Elk County, said. “This new model will allow us to be better stewards of the generous financial gifts we have received, and donations will go directly into services that will best serve the community.”

Weichman will start her new role beginning July 18, 2022. We express our gratitude for Majors Ronald and Marilyn Heimbrock who have served as the Corps Officers for the Ridgway Worship and Service Center, located on Main Street, for the past three years. The Majors are taking on new responsibilities as the Corps Officers in Corry, Pennsylvania. Visit wpa.salvationarmy.org for more information.
