The Salvation Army Holds Annual Clothing Drive for South Hills Students
PITTSBURGH (May 24, 2024) – The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center will be collecting clothing items to help local students ahead of the new school year. The annual clothing drive, held in partnership with the Mt. Lebanon Police Association and Mt. Lebanon High School, will take place on Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. During those hours, donations can be dropped off in the parking lot of Southminster Presbyterian Church on Washington Road, located next to the Mt. Lebanon Library.
Volunteers will be on hand to receive donations of gently used kids clothing and shoes for grades K-12. Items in demand include jeans, shorts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, sneakers, dress shoes and dress clothing in all sizes and for all genders. Can’t make it that Saturday? After June 1, donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center, located at 1060 McNeilly Road.
“We are grateful for the continued support of this annual clothing drive,” Major Justin Caldwell, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center, said. “When we can help meet basic needs, local families can focus on their child’s education and development. Thanks to the generosity of the community, students can start the school year off with the confidence they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.”
The donations will be sorted and distributed in August to those in need prior to the start of the new school year.
