The Salvation Army Partners with Michael Brothers Companies to Deliver Christmas Cheer

Dec 8, 2023

PITTSBURGH (December 11, 2023) – The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division is proud to continue a partnership with Michael Brothers Companies to deliver Christmas joy in and around Pittsburgh. Over the course of two days, Wednesday, December 13 and Thursday, December 14, Michael Brothers, a full-service source for waste removal and recycling, will donate their time and equipment to deliver toys and gifts collected through The Salvation Army Angel Tree program.

"When we were kids, our folks taught us the importance of helping others. Now, as we grow our family business, we want to lead with those same values,” Tom Milani, CEO of Michael Brothers Companies, said. “Teaming up with The Salvation Army every year is something we're proud of. It's our way of giving back to the community and being a part of something good, doing what we are best at – hauling in Pittsburgh. We're grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact, and we hope our efforts inspire others to join in the spirit of giving during the holiday season.”

Annually, children create wish lists that are shared with a vast network of supporters including companies, small businesses, churches and individuals. Gifts and toys are collected and sorted by hundreds of dedicated volunteers at various Salvation Army locations, then given to families to put under the tree for Christmas day. Last season, The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division’s Angel Tree program distributed more than 100,000 toys to children across 28-counties in Western Pennsylvania. “This heartwarming gesture goes beyond a mere donation,” Major Jodi Lloyd, Program Secretary for The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division, said. “Their team’s continued dedication to our Angel Tree program will have such a positive impact on local families. Our deepest gratitude to the Michael Brothers team for lending their expertise to help bring the spirit of Christmas to those who need it most.”

Michael Brothers Companies is also a proud supporter of WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up. During the holiday season each year, Michael Brothers collects and recycles old Christmas lights. All proceeds from the recycling help provide NEW winter outerwear to children and older adults in need across Western Pennsylvania. Old strands of lights can be dropped off for recycling at select Michael Brothers locations and donations for recycling can also be placed at designated bins at certain hardware stores and municipalities. Visit project Bundle-Up’s Facebook page to find the nearest location.
