PITTSBURGH (February 12, 2024) – The Salvation Army is partnering with Awakening Foundation and Toby Mac with the desire to help individuals who are in the process of reentering society. The 2024 Hits Deep tour runs from January 16 to March 23, stopping at 30 locations in the United States and Canada this winter. The tour will stop in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, March 19 at the Petersen Events Center. A $1,500 donation will be made to The Salvation Army at each tour stop on behalf of Awakening Foundation and Altrua HealthShare, along with Toby Mac. Locally, the donation will go toward The Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center in Pittsburgh, a licensed longterm residential treatment program for men ages 18 or older with substance use disorders.

“For more than a century, The Salvation Army has offered spiritual, emotional and social assistance to those who have lost hope,” Major Gregory Hartshorn, Divisional Commander, The Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania said. “On behalf of all the men who receive housing, warm meals, and counseling in the life changing community offered at Pittsburgh’s Harbor Light Center, we express our deepest thanks for partnerships with organizations like Awakening Foundation and Altrua HealthShare.”

The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division’s Harbor Light Center, located in Pittsburgh’s Northside, is a residential treatment program for men ages 18 or older with substance use disorders, many of whom have significant medical, mental health, co-occurring disorders, legal, and social needs. The Harbor Light Center served 154 individuals in the last fiscal year and the center is The Salvation Army’s only licensed substance use disorder program in the 28 counties of Western Pennsylvania. The team provides trauma-informed care and offers creative wellness activities. The program allows individuals to set and achieve goals for their lives that include overcoming substance use disorders, reestablishing productive lives, housing, employment, and reuniting with their families.

“This year’s tour is going to be phenomenal and we look forward to living up to its namesake by hitting deep into the communities and helping those currently incarcerated or trying to re-enter society. We look forward to seeing lives changed across the nation this Spring,” said Dan Fife, Awakening Events Founder.

The Salvation Army, being a faith-based organization, is uniquely positioned to provide holistic support to those who need them most. For more information about The Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center, visit salvationarmywpa.org/harborlight.
