The Salvation Army Welcomes New Leaders to Beaver County
PITTSBURGH (May 30, 2024) – The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division will welcome new Commanding Officers to The Salvation Army of Beaver Falls beginning Wednesday, June 26. Majors Dorothy and Shane Budd will also fulfill the role of Beaver County Coordinators for The Salvation Army’s many programs for residents in Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Rochester and surrounding communities.
This appointment is part of The Salvation Army’s annual national and divisional officer reassignments. Majors Budd are no strangers to Western Pennsylvania, having served as Commanding Officers in Warren, Pennsylvania since 2022. Under their leadership, they developed weekly programs for youth and adults including Bible studies, supper club, scouting programs, as well as archery.
“While we were only in Warren for a short time, this community will always have a special place in our hearts,” Major Dorothy Budd said. “We will miss the welcoming and supportive group we have come to love. It is our honor to continue our journey and mission of serving
others in our new roles. We cannot wait to get started!”
The Salvation Army’s three community centers in Beaver County have a combined annual budget of more than $2.5 million. Majors Budd will be integral to the success of The Salvation Army’s local support services and initiatives, including a robust music education program for youth. Majors Budd will also be essential in leading the planning committee for The Salvation Army of Beaver County’s Annual Spring Gala.
The Salvation Army Ordination and Commissioning is an essential moment in the life of The Salvation Army and serves as a reminder of its mission to meet human needs in Christ’s name without discrimination. Captains Angelica and Gene Spence, who will be joining The Salvation Army’s Western Pennsylvania Division from Salem, Ohio, will serve as the new Commanding Officers in Warren, Pennsylvania. Envoy John Barnett, former Beaver County Coordinator, will lead The Salvation Army’s Worship and Service Center in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
