The Salvation Army's Fall Fabric Fair Fundraiser Returns

Sep 8, 2022 | by Nicole Harrell

PITTSBURGH (September 8, 2022)The Salvation Army Greater Pittsburgh Women’s Auxiliary is proud to present this year’s Fall Fabric Fair on Saturday, October 8, 2022. The annual sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 1:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center, located at 1060 McNeilly Road in Pittsburgh.

The popular event will offer bargains on fabric, yarn, crafting materials and ‘sew’ much more! Since its inception, the annual Fabric Fair has raised more than $630,000, with all proceeds providing critical assistance to struggling individuals and families throughout Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

“It does a lot of good,” Lois Appel, longtime volunteer said. “You just feel like you are doing something positive and truly making a difference.”

Volunteers from The Salvation Army Greater Pittsburgh Women’s Auxiliary work tirelessly throughout the year, collecting fabrics and notions, measuring, cutting, pricing and working out logistics for the annual Fabric Fair. Attendees can expect to find great deals on rare fabrics, unique patterns, beautiful upholstery and a variety of materials needed for crocheting, knitting, quilting and more.

“Our items are so much less expensive than buying new,” Amy Quinlan, who started volunteering in 2020 said. “We have oodles of buttons, lace and so much more. It’s like a bonanza for anyone who is interested in crafting.”

Free parking is available on site and free shuttles will be provided from two satellite locations at Keystone Oaks High School and Keystone Oaks Middle School. Snacks and lunch items will also be available for purchase at the event. Carts and strollers are prohibited.

The success of the Fabric Fair is a result of the donations of all the items for sale. Donated fabric and related items are always in need, as are additional volunteers to measure and sort fabric in preparation for the fair. Fair donations are currently being accepted at The Salvation Army warehouse in Green Tree from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays at the rear of 820 Parish Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Please note, fabric donations will *not* be accepted during the actual Fabric Fair event. For more information call 412-446-1500 or visit salvationarmywpa.org/fabricfair.
