PITTSBURGH, PA (September 22, 2021) – The Salvation Army Western PA Division is proud to join partner organizations in hosting a Refugee Resettlement Furniture Drive this Saturday, September 25 at The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Warehouse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Salvation Army, Jewish Family and Community Services, American Red Cross, and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh have joined together in this effort to ease the burden for refugees, primarily those from Afghanistan, who are working to build their lives in the Pittsburgh region. The organizations are requesting donations of the following items on September 25, which should be in good condition upon drop-off:

  • Tables and chairs
  • Dressers
  • Home décor
  • Working appliances
  • Tools
  • New kitchenware

The Refugee Resettlement Furniture Drive is unable to accept used clothes, used mattresses and box springs, bed frames, used strollers, cribs, car seats, and breast pumps (due to safety issues and potential recalls) and is unable to pick up furniture. The Salvation Army EDS Warehouse is located at 820 Parish Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15220.

Monetary donations are welcomed at: https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/WelcomeRefugees. In-kind donations may be shipped to The Salvation Army EDS warehouse with a note indicating they are for “JFCS Refugee Department.” For more information, please contact Noorulhaq Fazly at nfazly@jfcspgh.org or visit www.jfcspgh.org/help
