Alleviate Hunger Image

Alleviate Hunger

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need

The Salvation Army’s approach to feeding hungry people is based on the local needs of each community we serve.

We feed hundreds of individuals daily, including the most vulnerable of our communities — children in our after-school programs, the elderly at our senior programs, friends at our homeless shelters, families experiencing a rough patch, survivors rebuilding their lives after a disaster, and domestic violence and human trafficking survivors. Salvation Army food pantries provide food at no cost, but some locations require appointments. Others are on a walk-in first come first served basis. Call your local Salvation Army office or the 2-1-1 help line to determine which food pantry serves your area.

Hot Meal Programs and Food Pantries

No one should ever go a day without a meal or feel ashamed about asking for help accessing food. That’s why many of our locations provide free groceries year-round and hot meals to anyone who needs them. Contact the location near you to learn which pantry serves your area or when meals are offered. You may need an appointment for groceries, depending on the location.

Food Pantries

All Salvation Army Corps Community Centers have food pantries on-site to help meet emergency needs. Typical items in pantries include canned goods and other non-perishable items. For more information, please call The Salvation Army closest to you or the Greater Philadelphia headquarters at (215) 825-4601 for the appropriate local contact.
