Niagara Falls: Barbara

Apr 2, 2020 | by Empire State Division

Barbara calls The Salvation Army of Niagara Falls pretty regularly. It’s not just her need for food but when she calls, the caseworker, Corinne, always prays with her. Corrine, hadn’t heard from Barbara in a few weeks and grew concerned. In the busyness of meeting needs as this pandemic grew, she hadn’t had a moment to call to check-in on Barbara. Our fears were relieved today when Barbara reached out just to say she’s ok but felt trapped in her room due to the need for social isolation.

We brought her some supplies and she cracked open the door to tell us to leave the items by her door. Sometimes The Salvation Army is more than just a food source or a place to stay. It’s a friendly voice in dark times, a prayer when you need it most. We’re thankful for every “Barbara” and every call we get that allows us to touch hearts in a socially distant environment.
