“I don’t know what we’d be able to do without The Salvation Army”

Mr. Smith visits the food pantry twice a week, is living on social security and struggling with medical bills and a very ill wife who is bedridden. He has multiple leg injuries and says his prescription costs are “more than tough” to pay. Our social workers helped pay his utility bills through the Dollar Energy fund and helped get his family caught up on utility payments so he can focus on getting his family back on track.

Love has an army. We fight for good.

Throughout the nation, The Salvation Army opens our arms and our hearts to serve those most desperate for physical, emotional, and spiritual assistance. Because human need differs from state to state, city to city, and even person to person, we seek to find solutions to each unique situation. By providing everything from feeding programs and emergency shelters to domestic abuse asylum and disaster relief services, we are able to do the most good wherever and whenever it's needed.

Emergency Food Assistance

The Salvation Army provides hot meals monthly, and emergency food pantry assistance as well as food vouchers to local grocery stores throughout the region for anyone in need at local Worship & Service Centers.

Utility Assistance

The Salvation Army HeatShare program assists with utility bills for households that have received a shut-off notice. Our social service caseworkers help families and individuals pay their utility bills in order to get through emergency crisis. Clothing Assistance

Salvation Army Family Stores resale clothing and household items at reduced prices. The proceeds support The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Centers. Local Salvation Army Worship & Service Centers also provide vouchers to the Family Stores to individuals and families coping with financial crisis or a disaster.

Dental Care

The Salvation Army Oil City and Johnstown Dental Centers provide high-quality preventative and restorative oral healthcare to under-insured and uninsured low-income families in Venango and Cambria Counties. Assist the Unemployed

For those stuck in chronic unemployment, The Salvation Army combats the symptoms of prolonged joblessness through a holistic approach that creates sustainable change for families and individuals. By helping people pursue and complete educational requirements, training, certifications, and other prerequisites for gainful employment, we tear down the qualification barriers standing in their way. We provide those in need résumé, interview, and job placement assistance to help them find productive work for sustainable wages.

Parole and Probation Sponsorship

The Salvation Army assists people who have found themselves involved in the criminal justice system. We support all individuals with issues in the courts, institutions, or involvement with correctional services, or those with family members involved in these areas. The Salvation Army offers clients practical support, outreach and other types of assistance to re-establish their lives productively and enable positive re-integration into community following incarceration.
