Our sports programs are intended to introduce individuals to athletic competition in an environment that is safe, supportive, and more concerned with experiences than the final score. Our programs focus on developing sportsmanship, self-esteem, integrity, and teamwork. In keeping with The Salvation Army’s mission, our programs strive to inspire individuals to realize their potential through experiences that may transform lives.
Sports & Recreation programs for children ages 2–12
Soccer Fundamentals
Session 1: March 9–April 15
Session 2: April 20–May 27
Tuesday/Thursdays
Ages 5–8: 5:30–6:30 PM

Minimum of 4 students per class by Feb 27, Maximum of 12 per class

Archery
March 20–May 8
Saturdays, 9:00–10:00 AM
(There will be no class on April 3 & 10)
Ages 7 & up
This is a course for the beginner archer. Students will learn all the fundamentals of archery including safety issues, correct terms of the sport, proper body positioning, proper handling of the bow, loading and shooting, and scoring. This course is taught by a HisPins certified instructor. No equipment is needed.

Toddler Track
Tuesdays, 5:45–6:45 PM
Join other families to walk or run at Kroc Park. Kids can walk or run (or ride in strollers) to use up some energy while their family gets some exercise too!
Each lap is 1/3 mile. Please stay with your children. Do not bring soda, chewing gum, or messy foods. In case of bad weather, the program will be canceled.

Playground Games

Ages 3–4
A program for the younger child we will play a variety of playground games outside. The goal is to get the kids moving. Parents are encouraged to participate.

Our elite programs are geared to the individual who is seeking a more advanced level of play and teaching of the game. These programs are by tryouts only and are picked by our coaching staff. These programs involve travel to games and tournaments.
Elite Soccer
Season: Mid February–end of May
Practices: TBD
The soccer team competes in the MVYSA. Players will receive uniforms and high-quality instruction while completing in league and tournaments around the area.
Cost: $100.00 per season (scholarships are available)
Elite Basketball
Season: March 1–May 30
Practices: Tuesday/Thursday, 5:30–7 PM or 7–8:30 PM
Players receive uniforms and high-quality instruction while participating in minimum of 6 tournaments within the Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati areas.
Cost: $200 per athlete (scholarships are available)

Cost: $15 (proceeds go to a girls’ home in Tanzania sponsored by The Salvation Army)

A day of excitement and knowledge as every girl will have choices in a variety of programs to obtain a bounty of badges.

Kroc Park features a state-of-the-art turf soccer/lacrosse field, with stadium seating, outdoor pickleball courts, auxiliary fields, and a paved walking path. It is used by the Recreation department at the Kroc Center hosts multiple sports leagues and events.
