The Bible studies are true to the Word. I think that's important. I enjoy the church services; we have good teachings. It's a blessing to be part of the women's ministry. I really like that people are free to be who they are and are accepted for that.

– Sheree Moorman, Corps Member

We want people to feel loved and accepted, and to feel like they are part of our family. We are tight-knit, sharing in each other's journeys of growing in Christ. This corps has been my family for the last 11 years.

Meet the Team

Captain Wonni & Lieutenant Shawn Williams
Corps Officers for Congregational Life

Captain Wonni & Lieutenant Shawn Williams have been officers in The Salvation Army for seven years and four years. Prior to their marriage, they served in various communities including Quincy, Massachusetts, New Haven and Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Newark, New Jersey. Currently, they serve as the Congregational Life Officers in Dayton, OH,  with their son Maverick James.

Lieutenant Shawn holds a B.A. in Accounting from Asbury University and is working towards his Masters in Business & Administration through Asbury University. Capt. Wonni has a B.A. in Ministry Management from Asbury University and completed Kroc Leadership training with The Salvation Army in partnership with Indiana Wesleyan University.

Lieutenant enjoys weight training, basketball, football, video games, and naps. Captain enjoys playing her guitar, singing, playing volleyball, and capturing moments. Together they enjoy family time, traveling, documentaries, and movies.
The Williams's passion is for people and preaching the Gospel. Church programs along with current and new endeavors with Kroc departments and community events help to provide us with opportunities to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

Captain and Lieutenant Williams approach marriage as a united team. Often echoing to each other “We are a team.” At the Dayton Kroc Center, we want to enhance the feeling of unity already present. Colossians 3:14 reminds us that to do this we must overflow with unselfish love for others. To serve Dayton at a high standard and with excellence requires unity with staff, volunteers, church members, and the community.
