Every year, parents must choose between giving their children gifts or paying bills. Individuals facing poverty often spend the holidays without the warmth of a shared meal or even a support system.
The holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress to families and individuals living in poverty. From gifts for children in need to special meals for those who would otherwise go without fellowship on the holidays and meeting other basic needs - we aim to bring joy back into the season.
Christmas brings additional stress for families struggling throughout the year. How can they pay the bills, provide meals, and give their children presents?
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program assists families by providing gifts that have been donated by individuals and companies.
Angel tags have been placed on a Christmas tree in front of Macy’s at the Christiana Mall. Members of the community may remove tags and purchase the requested gifts listed on the tags for a child in need. Purchased gifts need to be returned to the Angel Tree in the Mall by December 13th.
If you or your company/organization is interested in being an Angel Tree or Adopt-A-Family sponsor by purchasing gifts, please email Major Marcia Cocker or call at (302) 472-0722.

Each year during the holidays, The Salvation Army kicks off the annual Bell Ringing season by mobilizing its volunteers to man Red Kettles around the state. Virtual Red Kettles will also available so you can donate right from home!
The funds that are raised through this campaign are used to support critical programs that serve those who need assistance across Delaware.
