Red Kettle

Volunteer -- Find Locations

One of the most-recognized symbols of The Salvation Army is the bell ringer with a red kettle standing in front of a grocery store or shopping mall. The Red Kettle campaign is The Salvation Army's largest fundraiser, contributing thousands to help those in need throughout Fairfield County with invaluable services for our youth, seniors and individuals in need of food support and emergency assistance.

Kind-hearted donors can “fill the kettle” with their change, bills and electronic donations (through Apple Pay & Google Pay) to help support the year-long programs of The Salvation Army in Fairfield County. Every penny donated in Fairfield County stays right here in Fairfield County, and 90 cents of every dollar is directly used to help those in need in our community.

This year's campaign runs through Christmas Eve. To stay abreast of campaign news, events and important dates, please follow us on Facebook!

We need your help as a volunteer red kettle bell ringer!

Often referred to as “The army behind the Army,” volunteers play a crucial role in The Salvation Army's ability to provide quality social services for the entire community. Volunteer opportunities are plentiful, especially around the holidays!

From late-November through Christmas Eve, volunteers play a critical role in the success of the Red Kettle campaign. As you can imagine, hundreds of volunteers are needed to cover the many hours of bell-ringing!

There are several ways you can help!

  • RING THE BELL: Ringing the bell - even for a single two-hour shift - is so helpful! You can sign up for one shift, or as many as you want! Shifts are available in two-hour increments at all of our Red Kettle locations.

  • GATHER TO ADOPT A KETTLE: Groups of volunteers are needed to “adopt” a kettle location for a day (or longer) by organizing a group of friends, family or coworkers to ring the bell for the day. Most locations run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Monday through Saturday.

  • SPONSOR A RED KETTLE: This corporate sponsorship opportunity is a great way for local businesses and organizations to make a big impact in Fairfield County! You can sponsor the kettle financially, or staff the kettle, and a sign with your company logo will be placed at the kettle during the duration of your sponsorship. Click here to learn more!

Red kettle volunteers are encouraged to be creative and have fun: sing, play an instrument, share a special talent, include your children, or bring a pet – those are all popular ways to make it fun, and increase donations, too! (Please Note: Bell-ringer volunteers must be 16 years of age or older, unless accompanied by an adult.)
