Staff Spotlight: Trisha Jennett
Trisha is a familiar face to many in our program, especially to about half of our foster families since they welcome her into their homes on a regular basis! As one of our two Foster Care Caseworkers, Trisha loves supporting kids and families to thrive together. She is also a TBRI Practitioner and fierce advocate for children. As an adoptive mom herself, she brings a unique perspective and personal touch to her work that helps her to understand and resonate with what her families are experiencing.
Those who know her well also know that she absolutely adores God, her family, cats, art (she is really talented at drawing!), and healthy snacks - she can definitely be named the office's "most likely to be eating a fruit or vegetable."
Get to know Trisha:
What is your role at The Salvation Army and what does it entail?
I am a foster care worker. I help families care for the children placed in their homes.
What drew you to a career in social work?
I like to help others, and really want every child to grow up in a family that loves and cares for them well.
If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about the child welfare system, what would it be?
Prioritize children's rights over parents' rights whenever there is doubt as to safety.
What is one piece of advice you have for people considering becoming foster/adoptive parents?
You must have margin in your life to have the time to invest in a foster child. If you are super busy and expect them to fit your present schedule, you will probably not like foster care!
What are you doing for self-care these days?
Reading, walking, stretching, eating?
And just for fun...what are your favorite:
- Animal - Cat
- Color - Yellow
- Food - Granola
- Ice Cream Flavor - Peanut butter and chocolate
- Sport - Pickleball
- Vacation Destination - any vacation sounds good to me!
