Your Support Changes A Child's Future

There are over 15,000 children in foster care and nearly 3,000 children waiting for adoptive families in Pennsylvania.
Unfortunately, there is a shortage of homes to care for them. Even if you aren't ready to foster or adopt right now, everyone
can do something to help these children reach their full potential.

Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Welcome a child into your home: Become a foster parent, adoptive parent, or short-term foster parent.
  • Volunteer your time and talents to help a family: Join a Care Community - a group of volunteers who wrap around a foster or adoptive family and meet some of their support needs (babysitting, transportation, chore help, tutoring, etc.)
  • Invite us to speak: Belong to a church, club, organization, or community group? We welcome opportunities to speak to any group of people about foster care and adoption. Spreading awareness and information is one of the best ways to help make real change for children impacted by foster care.
  • Connect with our Orphan Care Ministry: We partner with local churches and organizations to uplift foster and adoptive families through prayer, volunteering and financial support. We welcome the opportunity to connect with your place of worship and help your congregation start their own initiatives in support of children and families.
  • Be a party host: Host a Foster Share Party! We'll provide the activities, a gift card for refreshments, and messaging to share. You provide the space and invite your friends.  Share information about children in foster care and waiting for adoption and raise awareness while having fun!
  • Follow us on social media: Share our posts and events, and encourage friends and family to do the same.  It's the simplest and one of the most effective ways to help! We're on Facebook as: SalvationArmyChildrensServices and Instagram as: salvationarmychildrenssvcs .
  • Become an Ambassador: Join our Ambassadors Committee - a group of volunteers who are committed to helping find innovative ways to raise awareness about the need for support for children in foster care and waiting for adoption . Ambassadors meet monthly (usually over Zoom) and sometimes represent the agency at community events.
  • Volunteer: The support from volunteers makes it possible to do the work we do - from HALO buddies (volunteers who team up with a child in our HALO program) to Rock N' Run volunteers, to folks who provide office help and more, our team wouldn't be complete without the folks who give their time, energy, and talents.
  • Make a Donation: Your gift of any amount helps us find and prepare new foster and adoptive families, provide sports and activity scholarships for children, and help struggling families with support groups and therapeutic support programs.
