Everyday, The Salvation Army helps alleviate hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need.
Donate Now
According to the USDA, more than 38 million people in the United States are food insecure.
Emergency Food Pantries, Soup Kitchens, and other feeding initiatives are offered through our Corps Community Centers to help those facing food insecurity for themselves and their families.
Our local programs, which aim to address and end food insecurity, are listed below.
Food Distribution
The Salvation Army’s Food Assistance and Pantry program is designed to provide food items such as meat and dairy products, non-perishable items, fresh bread, pastries, and produce to families in need. Food Distribution is the last Friday of every month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, or until we run out of food.
Food by Appointment
No one should go a day without a meal, which is why The Salvation Army of Reading offers food pickup by appointment. Folks looking for emergency food must make an appointment in advance before stopping by; contact Sam Poulios at sam.poulios@use.salvationarmy.org or (610) 373-5208, ext. 212 to schedule.
