The Salvation Army Makes Families Whole

We open our arms and our hearts to give families the support they need to grow together and thrive.

At The Salvation Army in Reading, we ensure that the basic needs of families are met so that they can develop together in a healthy fashion. We meet these needs through rental assistance and other social services for those who need it.

The Salvation Army Helps Families Thrive Through:

Utility Assistance

Hundreds of individuals around the county lose access to basic utilities every year. Clients can work with our Case Managers to sign up for the UGI Customer Assistance Program (CAP) and UGI Operation SHARE. With these programs, we have been able to provide heat and gas to people in need.

SHARE

It's difficult to move forward when you don’t have access to necessities or proper assistance. SHARE helps provide our community with prescriptions, utility bills, security deposits, clothing and shoe vouchers, bus passes for employment purposes, small household repairs, and more. We're always here to lend a helping hand.

Emergency Solutions Grant

The Salvation Army’s Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) helps those who have received court-ordered eviction, shut off notices, or dwellings not fit for human habitation. ESG can typically help an individual with either the full amount or a portion of their first month's rent and security deposit payment.

Emergency Food and Shelter Program

Clients who need oil or propane for heat and cooking can apply for our Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) with the help of a Salvation Army Case Manager. EFSP can also help clients manage overdue utility bills.
