It’s Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday is celebrated each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and encourages community members to support local nonprofit organizations. On this special holiday, we wanted to share with you the inspirational story of one of our families.

Taylor and Richard are a Pathway of Hope couple, with two young children, that have experienced the effects of generational poverty. Taylor was unable to graduate high school and Richard was unemployed with few skills and job prospects when this family was living in our Emergency Family Shelter. Despite neglect, a traumatic incident and poor health care access, this family was motivated to break the cycle of poverty.

With the help of our Pathway of Hope Caseworker, Richard was successfully linked with the RISE (Readying Individuals for Success and Employment) program offered through FeedMore WNY and Taylor has been working diligently towards her high school degree through The Salvation Army’s Employment Services program.

With the help of The Salvation Army Buffalo Area Services, this young family was provided with links for housing, furniture, groceries and even money management classes through the Emergency Family Assistance program.

Hundreds of families like Taylor and Richard’s are struggling to make ends meet. You can support a LOCAL family in need this holiday season – donate today!
