Summer Day Camp in The City at Buffalo Area Services

Feb 5, 2024

The Salvation Army at Buffalo provides over 15 programs and services to those in need in the community. From helping with job searches in Employment Services to providing a safe, fun place for children in our Summer Day Camp, we assist every member of the family.

Summertime often retains an alluring aura of excitement and possibility, especially for our youth. When the school year comes to a close, excitement mounts for what the summer months will hold. For many families in Buffalo, The Salvation Army’s Summer Day Camp in the City is of the utmost importance, as numerous parents and guardians alike work full time and/or do not have the means to send their children to camp. The Salvation Army’s Summer Day Camp provides children ages 5-12 with the opportunity to meet and bond with new friends and participate in various sports, games, and teambuilding activities at 960 Main Street in downtown Buffalo, led by well-trained counselors. By the end of the summer, our campers, like Zayne and Sam, are not ready to leave.

Twin brothers, Zayne and Sam recently participated in The Salvation Army’s Summer Day Camp in the City. The boys (raised by a single mother employed as a teacher’s aide in the Buffalo City Public Schools), were excited to begin camp after working hard during the school year. At the end of each week, the boys were constantly sharing stories with their Mom about the positive relationships that had built with their counselors, newly discovered talents, and lasting friendships they had made.”

For more information on how to sponsor a camper for the summer, like Zayne and Sam, please call (716) 888-6213. For information on how to register your child for camp, and to learn about camp employment opportunities, please call James McNeil at (716) 888-6231.
