Doing the Most Good - Together.

Feb 4, 2026 | by Emily Anthony

In 2025, our team at The Salvation Army Children's Services rallied around a singular theme for the year: Hope in Every Home. For 2026, we knew that we wanted to choose another theme, so we invited our entire staff to work through a collaborative brainstorming exercise at our January meeting. Today, our Leadership Team met to comb through all of the responses and look for any clear patterns. In what could possibly be described as the easiest strategy meeting in the history of meetings, one word instantly seemed to jump off the paper: together.

Together perfectly sums up the way we work as a small, passionate team. Collaboration and mutual support are woven into every part of our day. During our staff brainstorm, the words "collaboration" and "teamwork" came up over and over again.

But more than that, together is also our dream for each part of our work:

We believe families belong together. This is why we are passionate about prevention work, helping to support families so that they do not lose their children to foster care.

We bring new families together. As an adoption agency, we get to have a pivotal role in the formation of many forever families - what a privilege!

We celebrate families coming back together. The goal of foster care is reunification, and nothing thrills us more than seeing children reunited with their families in a safe and healthy manner.

We help families stick together. "Stick together" is more than just a rule we teach kids at our HALO program - it's a deep desire to see foster and adoptive families connected and thriving for the long-term. We prevent placement disruption and adoption dissolution by giving families real support and the tools they need to successfully parent children from hard places.

We can only do it together. The needs in our communities are big and complex. We can only meet them by partnering with other community organizations and non-profits, government agencies, churches and faith-based communities, donors, and volunteers. When everybody comes together, our children and families can receive everything they need!

This year, we would love to invite you to partner with us and be part of our "together." We believe that everybody can find something to do to help children and families - from donating your money or sharing your time, to praying, to supporting a foster or birth family as part of a Care Community, to opening your heart and home to children in need. We would love to help you find your something! After all, we're all in this together!
